World Rabies Day 2012

Friday, Sept. 28, marks the sixth annual World Rabies Day, an international event created to help raise rabies awareness and save lives. Despite major efforts to eradicate the virus, rabies remains a major concern worldwide, killing more than 55,000 people every year. In the United States, more than 6,000 rabid animals, as well as 6 human cases of rabies, were reported to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control in 2011.
